This quote sums up most of our overall generation of teenagers. Most teenagers try so hard to fit in with different cliques and people in high school that they forget who they actually are as a person. Once they find who they actually are as a a person their will be no need to try to fit in. People who possess the same similarities and enjoy the same activities will connect with them easily. You necessarily don't have to act like a completely different person to make friends, when you can just be yourself.

The quote stands to represent that you are defined by the person you see yourself as. Another person's definition of you is false because that person does not know you enough to come up with the 100% definition you see fitting yourself. Once you are comfortable with who you know yourself to be; you start to express more characteristics of that. You eventually see yourself exactly as your definition.

This quote speaks to me. To finally become yourself you have to have confidence and pride. You mentally know who you are and you don't have to pretend to be something you're not. I've been through this in my life. I learned to actually BE me. I pretended for most of my life to be someone else. It took serious changes and emotional circumstances for me to come to the realization that I wasn't myself. Obstacles in life can show you the difference from acting vs. being.

Also, being happy with who you are allows for confidence around others. This confidence can carry over into success in the work place. Overall, if you find confidence to be yourself and not "act" like society expects you to, you will be successful.

There really is not much to say about it. I mean, its easy to understand. My reaction to this quote is to ask myself if I've found that strength, the strength to be myself, and not just act myself. I think that this is what most people ask themselves when reading this quote.

Actually... I do not know what to say to this quote. It's so easy to understand, but it is one of those quotes that make you want to think deeper. It makes you question yourself, or at least it made me question myself. Like on a normal day, do I BE myself, or do I ACT like myself?

Sullivan's quote is interesting because it gives me the impression that once you finally discover who you are, you will stop being that person. It is a frustrating idea but also makes me think about how over the course of our lives we are encouraged to change so much to reach our full potential. When we discover who we are we find the flaws and change them, therefore we are someone else.

What this is means that being yourself doesn't require you to act it out. You don't have to ACT to be yourself your just simply yourself.
