Why Can’t a Woman be more like a Man?

I believe that there are woman who have traits that would be considered male characteristics. All women probably have these traits, its just that some women are more willing to embrace these traits than others. I think that when women suppress these parts of their personalities, its simply a reaction to how they believe society will view them.

How is it that men became more powerful than women?  Is it because they’re physically stronger?  Honestly, that’s the only thing.  If women were given the same opportunities as men in the past, things would be a lot different today.  If given the opportunity, they could handle the same jobs as men today.  However, both men and women have unconsciously drawn a line that limits what women can and can’t do.  Men have drawn the line and said that women should “stay in the kitchen”, only doing domestic work.  Women limit themselves by calling each other cute and fragile, and acting the part as well.  Although they want to be treated equal to men, they can’t because they themselves reject some of the things that men deal with (ex. physical labor).  A woman can’t be more like a man because she herself acts the part that society has set as the standard woman.

Why don’t we ask why men can’t be more like women? It’s obvious in today’s society that men are considered masculine or strong, while women are perceived as feminine or weak. Men are often seen as being better than women. It makes me wonder why certain characteristics are socially acceptable for one gender and not the other? Like how it’s expected for a woman to be emotional but when a man expresses his emotions is he is seen as weak. Who created these standards and why are they still around? This mindset seems outdated, we should have a different mindset by now. It’s sad that this mindset has been engraved in us since we were children. It’s something we’ve always grown up repeating, men are to act “manly”, strong and a leader, while women are to be “feminine”, emotional and dependent. I will never understand why men will be considered the favorable gender. Nor do I understand why would I want to be like a man?

What kind of a question is this.? First off, it is not physically possible for a women to “be” like a man. The characteristics that men possess are completely different then the characteristics that a woman has. Second off, women are more compassionate, why would we want to give that up to be like a man? Women don’t have to be like a man in order to fit in, society has always asked us women why we can’t have the masculine traits that men possess compared to the traits we women possess. If I’m being honest, I think that being a women is the best thing on earth. Being a boy seems hard in many different ways. From relationships to the fact of just being a boy. They have to deal with so much its crazy. Although being a girl is the hardest thing ever and again to be honest, I know I’ve always wished to be a boy. Whoops.

The only thing that holds a woman down from being like a man is the idea that there is some distinct difference between the two. All genders are made up and are a part of a social construct so that we have the illusion that we have some kind of control over what is going on in the world. There is literally no difference between women and men other than the way we are built (which isn’t technically correct, either because not everyone with female anatomy is a female and vice versa because all genders are made up).

Why should a women be more like a man? There are two sides to take when reading this quote. One side can be argued that why can’t women be more like men as in having the same benefits as men do, such as, high paying jobs. Gender roles are set by society. It has always been said that men are suppose to be the strong, dominant figures who can support his family, while the girls are just suppose to look pretty and be eye candy for men. One can argue that this quote is previewed as to men wondering why women are not as good or as powerful as them. Men are threatened by women and they will do what it takes to maintain their power because they don’t want to lose it, especially to a women. I would like women to be more like men in the way that they have equal opportunities and benefits that the guys have. Women work just as hard, if not harder, but they do not make the same amount of money men do. It would be nice to live in a world where I don’t have to fall subject to being treated like a stereotypical women and not for what I can truly do. Being told to sit down, don’t want you to break a nail. Women have a strong will and can do the things men do and deserve credit for it.

why cant a woman be more like a man

I really wonder what Shaw means by being “more like a man”.  When I think about what being like a man is I think of being assertive, aggressive, and to be honest, more sexually promiscuous.  I suppose being more like a man can be a good thing for men because then we wouldnt be so confusing to them (but we really arent that confusing) but at the same tie, if women were more demanding of power then it would challenge the current male dominated system.  But what bugged me the most was that like theres this double standard that if women are assertive and demand stuff then theyre being bitchy or overbearing but when a guy does it its accepted and even praised because theyre going after what they want.  Like am I just supposed to sit there and wait for what I want? can I not go after what I want too without being harassed?  And girls sometimes can be the worst of all when it comes to eachother, we are so condemning of other girls and im guilty of this too.  Its something we need to fix if we are ever going to team up to fix the problems addressing women.

Why can't a woman be more like a man?

Who really says that a woman can’t be more like a man? Other than the biology aspect, a woman can posses the same traits as a man and act the same, but the only difference is that she would never be accepted as one. Society looks down upon those who change genders, even though it can be seen in the entertainment industry and throughout the U.S. A woman can’t be accepted as a man because of societal values that were created by man a long time ago that no longer apply to our generation. Society’s values must change as we change. A woman can be more like a man, but it is whether or not she would be accepted as one is the real question.
