This survey supplies my abstract with research on the general perceptions for funeral preparation by the American public.

The rate of cremation has surpassed that of burial in 2015 according to a report released today by the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). The 2016 NFDA Cremation and Burial Report: Research, Statistics and Projections features statistics and in-depth analysis of consumer attitudes toward cremation.

An interesting look by the National Funeral Directors Association into the future of funerals. It makes long term estimates on the balance between the traditional funeral and cremation.

This is a video of Malala on Ellen discussing her story and fight for the right to education. She explains her struggles and big changes that occurred throughout her journey.

This article talks about how America has changed and faced its challenges since 9/11. We honor the ones that have passed and many families still grieve. Even though we were the victims of the attack, we weren't the only ones. In my book, Malala discusses her challenges with the same people that attacked us. They were the ones that brought major change in her country, the big one being women's rights. She struggled trying to go to school and eventually stood up to them, fighting to have equal education opportunities. When they found out they shot her, almost killing her.

This quote relates very well to my book. Malala was trying to change her world to get education for women. Like Mandela, Malala knew that education is the thing that can change the world. Both of them wanted to see positive change for all people. Education is an important part of a person's life and everyone should have the right to it.

This is definitely true for change, and it totally relates to Bethany. It was probably very hard at first to accept that this happened to her and she will always be missing one of her arms. It was probably hard to grasp the idea that she could possibly never surf again. Then, the messy part in the middle, is the road back. She has to learn how to do almost everything all over again. She has to train and re-learn certain things that were second nature before. She has to learn how to surf again, which can’t be easy. It’s messy to learn and adjust to this new change in your life. It’s hard and it is a struggle, but then you get to the end and it’s gorgeous. Bethany learned that she can inspire and help others. She can show people her strength and hopefully inspire them to be brave like her. This is the gorgeous part, where it seems like there was a purpose for all this. This happened for a reason. This is change.

Life changing events happen to all of us. Important events that change the course of life from that day forward. The ones we choose are usually exciting and filled with anticipation: a wedding, a new career, a family started, a move made. All change the course of events in our lives from that day on […]

This article definitely relates to Bethany. She relies on her strength in God, and she does not let her disability define her. She is known for her strength and comeback after the attack. Her relationship with God really helped her get through this difficult time, which is what this article mentions.

I like the part of the song when she sings,

 “There's a new me coming out And I just had to live And I want to give I'm completely positive I think this time around I am gonna do it Like you never do it Like you never knew it Oh, I'll make it through”.

I feel this relates to Bethany and my book. After the attack, Bethany remained positive and pushed through. Just because something happens that’s extremely awful and life-changing, doesn’t mean you have to stop doing what you love. You find a way to do it, which is what I believe these lyrics are trying to say. You can do it and you can make it through, just like Bethany did.
