Started a collection on archiveofourown that I’m trying to fill with great apocalyptic fanfiction from across fandoms. Would love recommendations. 

Right now, particularly asking my The 100 crew, as I don’t have any in the collection yet. (Looking for stories apocalyptic beyond canon (or at least independent of)). 

But honestly, I will read anything even vaguely apocalyptic (any fandom, any ship) and I am always available for constructive criticism regarding cross-fandom appeal if it doesn’t make the cut. I’m enjoying reading and looking for non-fandom appeal, to be honest. You guys are just so good!

Bellarke psychic ‘wtf?’ in season 5

Was looking at gif after gif from 4x13 and like... they were so in love with each other. The look on Bellamy’s face as he waits and waits and finally realizes she’s not gonna make it is heartbreaking. He just looks so young and innocent somehow, despite everything he’s done. He’s barely keeping his head on straight the entire episode from the moment she starts saying her goodbyes. He holds out hope even after he’s closed the doors. He holds out hope until the moment they successfully reach outerspace and she’s not there.

No one can ever tell me Bellamy wasn’t stupidly in love with Clarke when he left.

And Clarke? There is a reason she knocked him out and dragged him into the bunker against his will. There is a reason she couldn’t shoot him. There is a reason she followed him when he left to get Raven. The girl is not quite as obvious but... she’s not an idiot. She saw what we all saw. She saw that Bellamy loved her and it gave her hope.  And it kept giving her hope for six years while she waited for him to come back.

After season 5, 4x13 is even more heartbreaking than before. Because the fact that they were so close, so in love, makes where they are now all the more painful to watch.

What’s really frustrating about this season is the way it deliberately shows plot developments and then makes them irrelevant the next episode. Like Bellamy grieving an entire episode, but the next time we see him he learns Clarke’s alive and everyone believes him. Like Bellamy learning Clarke’s alive only to do nothing until Emori tells him, too. These are not things that moved the plot forward. So far, nothing has happened as a result of these events. Their only purpose is character development. They’re only about bellarke. 

And I have to be honest, as good as that is for bellarke, as a writer I don’t like it. It makes the story feel messy and padded. Now, if there isn’t payoff for these moments in bellarke development by the end of the season, I will have to write this season off as pretty damn bad no matter how much I enjoy it. So here’s hoping this all has a purpose eventually because right now it’s really just very extra.
