Zombie Apocalypse? Why, it's completely possible.
Ok, so I have a new take on the inevitable zombie apocalypse that is bound to happen in the near future because there are so many stories about it. Anyways, it has been studied that humans are social creatures, they need to form a community in order to survive and this is true from a hundred thousand years ago to five seconds after you read this sentence.
It could have started from when the Neanderthals interacted with Homo sapiens, since based on tool evidence, Neanderthals had to be able to communicate with each other effectively in order to properly hunt the large animals they are known for. Homo sapiens, based on archaeological evidence, used more long range weapons, -- bows and arrows, throwing spears-- tools than Neanderthals, who usually made knives and spears. This fact is why Professor Hawks believes that Homo sapiens inherited the skills for better language communication from Neanderthals, but we aren’t talking about that right now.
Anyways, zombie apocalypse, jumping back on that train. Right, so studies show that humans absolutely need social interaction, they can’t live without it. You put a person in a room and leave them there alone without seeing a single person and a month later see how they act. Like completely demented and psychotic creatures from the depths of hell, absolutely craving human contact.
Anyways, with the way technology is improving, --(and fuck anyone who thinks I’m against technology, I love it)—soon human interaction will be greatly diminished, almost to the point of not having to ever go outside to meet with people, because we would just be able to see them all from our computer screens or holograms or whatever technology is out. People would be living in their little personal bubbles, and because it would be considered advanced technology that everyone should have, the majority of people would turn to this new trend of interacting with people solely through technology.
Guess what’s going to happen soon enough? Yup, you guessed it. Before anyone really realizes it, humans will start to crave interactions with other people, as in physical interactions. But after such a long time of avoiding physical contact, things are going to get ugly.
The problem with people, is not that the majority of them are complete assholes at some point in their life –which is true—it’s that we are prone to violence and at the same time are too weak to handle it without defenses. These feral humans, zombies if you would like, will attack other humans, and everyone, those infected by the zombie-itis and the people who escaped it, will fight back.
In the past, when human beings were simply hunter/gathers and hunting animals, the only experiment they could conduct to learn how to survive was by trial and error and studying how their people were dying. Humans are able to learn from past mistakes and change accordingly. A hundred thousand years ago, or even longer than that, Homo sapiens learned to survive by learning from the predators around them, lions and hyenas in Africa, mountain lions and tigers in places in Europe and Asia, etc. and adapting to perfection to become the number one predator due to our excelled rate of learning.
Now, humans are going to be fighting other humans, and guess what?
Everyone will learn, and everyone will adapt. How do you fight an enemy that has the same capabilities as yourself? That is everything you are in terms of biological and learning capabilities?
It’s going to be chaos, beautiful chaos, and the best part is, it will never stop, especially not in developed countries. By the time people start noticing the ‘zombies’ and figure out what is the actual cause, the countries will have already been far too dependent on technology to stop. Technology is what defends us from other countries wanting a bite of our territory, and technology will also be our downfall from within.
The zombies will watch the uninfected humans use their weapons to destroy them and they will learn. “Look, something is being pointed at me? Time to dodge. And it takes time for it to be used again? Attack now.” The humans will learn from their losses as well. “Those zombies are faster and stronger because adrenaline is coursing through them due to stress from lack of interaction making them feral? It will be in our best interests to do the same.”
I would advise people to start preparing now, just in case, but you want to know something? I could already be the first feral zombie. How would you be able to tell them apart when they all look like regular humans? Would you be willing to risk that you’re attacking someone ‘normal’? And once you’ve crossed that line, where do you stop?
