I’m listening to a superlative production created by the BBC World Service to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon, July 20, 2019. I was living in Long Island in the time of the early Apollos and my dad, an aerospace engineer, was one of the people Grumman hired to fill in for engineers recruited by NASA to build the lunar module. Apparently 400,000 people were involved in one way or another. Listening to this podcast has brought up so much for me about the trajectory of this giant leap for mankind, as well as my own life. Even though I was very young I will always remember vividly watching Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin step onto the moon. The pilot who dropped them off, Michael Collins, is still alive at 88. He’s an absolute jewel. Great audio throughout, beautifully edited and produced, with music by Hans Zimmer. Well done, Kevin Fong and the BBC. 👍 Available on your podcast app, 11 episodes with the last one airing tomorrow. 🌚 #apollo11 #apollo11anniversary #apollo11mission #apollo1150years (at Santa Fe, New Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0HOoi4FNYU/?igshid=hgmws99n8lno
