Hail, Lord Apollo! God of plagues and hunts, god of the wilderness and medicine, god of music, light, and poetry, I bow to you, I pray to you! Lord from Lydia, may we praise you! Hail to you, son of Zeus, son of Leto, brother of the Divine Huntress. Lover of Hyakinthos, god of the Achaeans, we pray to you. Like Chryses long ago, may our devotion shine, and may you come to us in times of aid. Remember your devotee, Lord. Remember your warmth and light. Praise to Apollo, god of light! Khaire Apollonas!

Apollo and Hector’s unique relationship may be the closest thing we see to friendship between divine and mortal in the Iliad. Perhaps if circumstances were different — if Apollo was mortal, or Hector was not destined to die — they could have had just that. And yet it is these exact circumstances that makes their relationship so beautiful, the idea that a divine being would feel such affinity for a doomed man and do all in his power to save and honor him.

The Mystery of the Sleeping Giant of Naxos, Greece

An ancient giant statue has been lying on its back for centuries on a hill on the scenic Greek island of Naxos.

An ancient giant statue has been lying on its back for centuries on a hill on the scenic Greek island of Naxos.

The “Kouros of Apollonas”, also called the “Colossus of Dionysus”, is a 10.7 meter (35 foot) tall unfinished statue of light grey Naxian marble, weighing approximately 80 tons.

It has never been raised up to its full height; for some unknown reason the giant was left to languish for eternity on the bare ground.

Dating between the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. the marble statue is situated on the northern part of Naxos, in the picturesque fishing village of Apollonas.

The sun has been shining here nonstop since the 25 of November.

He's here for a fun time not a long time this year, he reminds us.

Personal story below

I've had a very terrible thanksgiving, and I finally aired out my grievances about my life overall all to him.

I always run to him, I even found myself questioning why, why him, why do I love him so much (I asked Aphrodite this a lot when I talk about expressing love) , why is it that he makes me feel present.

One thing I figured out is that I'm not scared of him being around. I love his presence and warmth. I feel like he's always there even when dark, even if I feel like I'm not good enough he's still there.

He is very dear to me.

Ο αρχαίος ναός έχει αναστηλωθεί ενώ εκθέματα και ευρήματα της ανασκαφής μπορείτε να δείτε στο κτήριο της Μουσειακής Συλλογής, μερικά μέτρα από τον αρχαιολογικό χώρο.
