Hyapollo in general: hyapollo in smut:
This is my headcannon of them literally apollo is the one comforting and protecting hyacinthus
In bed, however... 😏
Honestly the Lucian Dialogs of Gods (Dialogi Deorum) are so lively and so direct!
For instance here is the clip of the dialog between Hermes and Apollo! Apollo is grieving over the death of Hyakinthus!
Hermes: Why are you sad, Apollo? Apollo: Oh Hermes! I am so devastated! My beloved! Hermes: Ah that is worthy of sorrow indeed but whom are you grieving for? Are you sad about Daphne? Apollo: Not at all. I grieve for my lover (eromenos), the Laconian son of Oeballus Hermes: Don't tell me Hyakinthus died! Apollo: Very much so! Hermes: But who, Apollo, who could be so incapable of love so that to kill that beautiful boy?! Apollo: It was by my own hand! Hermes: Undoubtedly you must have gone mad, Apollo! Apollo: No I wasn't, it was an accident that happened without my will! Hermes: How? I want to hear the way! Apollo: He was learning how to throw the discus and I was throwing with him however Zephyr also loved him and he (Hyakinthus) was not interested and because Zephyr couldn't stand the insult when I threw, like we were used to, upwards he (Zephyr) blew over the mount Taygetos and it (the discus) flew towards the boy's head and so much blood flowed from the wound, immediately killing the boy! I attacked immediately Zephyr with my arrows and he ran away back to the mountains. However the boy I buried in a grave in Amyclae where the discus killed him and from his blood, oh Hermes, from his blood I made a beloved flower come out of the earth, the most beautiful flower of all and I wrote on it letters to mourn for the dead! Do you think now that I mourn unjustly? Hermes: Ah, Apollo you already knew you had chosen a mortal for your lover! Do not grieve now that he died!
(Translation by me)
I love how you can literally play the scene so simply! You just need two people. Apollo is crying devastated, Hermes notices and asks him what is going on wishing to hear the story. We also hear that the events with Daphne have passed now but also we see that Apollo grieves for his "eromenos". Hermes originally wonders who would do such a thing and then when Apollo reveals the truth Hermes assumes he was mad or something because who would dare to harm him?! (here again the concept of καλός καγαθός "beautiful and pure)
Thought the PJO and Epic fandoms might appreciate this little tidbit from Lucian
I’ve come across many myths claiming that Zephyrus killed Hyacinthus out of jealousy, but I’ve also seen on the Wiki that some sources say he wasn’t the one who killed him and wasn’t even involved, and that this detail(who said Zephyrus killed Hyacinthus) was added later. Are there any sources that can confirm this?
I'm not very familiar with this story, but as far as I know the earliest (surviving) mention of Zephyros as Apollo's rival responsible for the death of Hyakinthos comes from Palaiphatos' „On Unbelievable Tales” 46 (maybe late 4th century BCE):
„Hyacinth was a beautiful and noble youth from Amyclae. Both Apollo and Zephyr saw him and were smitten by his beauty; both competed to win his affection. Apollo showed off his archery skills, and Zephyr sent a wind. Apollo approached Hyacinth with joy and singing; but Hyacinth felt anxious and fearful around Zephyr, so he shared his affection with Apollo. Because of this, Zephyr grew jealous and plotted his revenge. Later on, when Hyacinth was training with Apollo, (something he was too afraid to do with Zephyr), Zephyr maliciously struck down the discus that Apollo had thrown; it struck the youth, and he died. The earth could not erase the memory of such a tragedy, and so in honor of the youth, it created a flower with the name Hyacinth, and inscribed the first letter of his name on the petals of the flowers.”
More rarely it is Boreas who plays that role instead of Zephyros (Servius on Vergil's Eclogues 3.63, First Vatican Mythographer 115, Second Vatican Mythographer 208).
Other times however neither of these get involved at all and the death of Hyakinthos is just an accident, which might very well be the earliest version of the tale with the jealous rival being added later on for more drama. The earliest mention of Hyakinthos, Apollo and discus (but no wind god) is in a fragment of the Hesiodic Catalogue of Women.

This is my life of discreet ways to worship Hyacinthus! I found this list a bit challenging, mostly due to the stress I'm dealing with offline, so I'll likely make edits to it in the future. In the meantime, I hope someone finds this helpful! Take care! 💜

helpol gardening??
hi everyone! i could use some gardening tips! (could be time sensitive??)
basically, i noticed that (what I believe to be) PURPLE HYACINTHS are growing and blooming in my backyard and I'd LOVE to put these in a flower pot to bring inside, both because I love flowers and hyacinths, but also in honor of Apollon and Hyakinthos!
is there anything I should know before I very delicately uproot a hyacinth to pot it? oh it's also been raining for the past 2-3 days, if that's important!!
