Microsoft is working on a new shell for Windows which is being referred to as Cloud Shell. While I don’t have all the details on the platform yet, it is being described as a new “lightweight iteration of Windows designed for the modern computing world” based on documents I have seen. The timeline for introduction is expected in 2017 but no firm date was given for its release or announcement. We have known for some time that Microsoft has wanted to modernize Windows and they previously tried (and failed) with Windows RT; it is possible that the company is going to reboot this effort. Less than a week ago, a report from Taiwan suggested that local chipset production powerhouse TSMC may have skipped a beat on its 10nm fabrication process, potentially leading to delays for upcoming products such as Apple's rumored new iPads, reported PhoneArena. Thankfully, the company refuted said report and ensured everyone that the 10nm process is "totally on track." TSMC will also contribute to the sales revenue in the first quarter next year. Today, Google announced that its Map Maker tool, which let users edit information and suggest changes in Google Maps, will be shut down in March of 2017. However, crowdsourced contributions to Google Maps are not ending, the company noted – instead, those will be transitioned to Google's Local Guides program. Samsung plans to launch an artificial intelligence digital assistant with its upcoming Galaxy S8 phone, the company said Sunday according to Reuters.
