I'm sure Jon misses his days of jumping like the cool kids and frolicking in pastures with his pals (for only an hour at a time), but for now he's very content watching his fellow barn-mates school over fences while he grazes and enjoys the breeze. This horse has been through so much in his 18 nearly 19 years and I have so much to thank him for. Some kids get a horse purely for showing and good rides, but out of the almost five years of owning this horse a year or more has been spent just rehabbing him or icing after rides. He clearly can't handle heavy work or work by any means. But between torn tendons and bone-spur flare ups there have been showers of blue ribbons and hours of learning. There have also been wet necks from family matters and long talks in empty barns. I love this horse to the moon and back whether or not I get to compete on him ever again, he's still the coolest school horse have ever been and a pretty handy trail horse even if long rides and water is out in his book. #dressage #appendixquarterhorse #firsthorse #horsestories (at Misty River Equestrian Center LLC)
