Lady Gaga performing "Applause" live at the VMAs last night. Definitely the VMAs are not the same without Gaga, nobody remembers what happened last year edition. 

Gaga's performance showed her career since the beginning, where she started with blank canvas and nobody believed in her (that's why of the boos during the presentation), after this she dresses as she used to dress in THE FAME era and after this she wore the wig of THE FAME MONSTER era. Who would say that Gaga, after everything we could've expected, she would wear costumes like herself, that's the metalanguage of pop. 

During the last part she disapears (refering to the BORN THIS WAY era when she had to be apart of the media and everyone thought she failed) but suddenly she comes up again wearing only the shell bikini (which she will be wearing for the rest of the show), representing the reborn, as in Botticelli's Venus, now showing the new era. ARTPOP.
