Technology for dummies: What is Android & Apple OS?!
Welcome to the first issue of "Technology for dummies"! This is my new section on unravelling the mysteries behind technology gadgets and gizmo's in an easy to understand form!
Android and Apple OS are operating systems. They are the software that is programmed into our gizmo's, which make them do what they do! Android is made by Google, who were looking on making an operating system which is able to run on any device that buys the rights to use it from any manufacturer - which makes it an 'open source' OS (operating system). Apple, on the other hand, was created obviously by Apple, for Apple products alone; because Apple like their products to be exclusive compared to everybody else, which means their products are usually better quality and of a higher standard - which Apple prides itself on. Unlike other manufacturers, Apple products stay clear of 'viruses' and 'bugs'. Apple OS runs on the iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac, Macbook Pro and Macbook Air only, where as Google Android can run on any mobile devise!
There are other operating systems, such as: Blackberry, Windows, Nokia Ovi etc, however people only care about Blackberry and Windows! Today however we are ignoring them all because they get in the way. There will soon be a post about them as well.
The differences between Android & Apple OS:
Apple OS works exclusively on Apple products.
Android is open sourced, so works on anything that Google authorises.
Apple has the largest mobile 'App' base in the line up.
Android trailing behind with an army of lesser quality Apps (applications), but will soon catch up with Apple's figures.
Apple does not allow any customisation on anything.
Android grants a lot more freedom for you to customise at will your product -themes etc (although you will probably mess it up and make it worse).
Apple products are very expensive.
Android products are cheap as chips.
So that pretty much outlines the differences!
