South Oregon Wine
We are members of Harvest Host club that allows us to drycamp at wineries and farms for free. In return we purchase something from the owner's tasting room or farm store. Through the program we have been able to stay at amazing farms and wineries at almost every state we have visited.
We stayed at the Longsword winery in one of the newest South Oregon wine growing region, Applegate valley.
When entering the tasting room we were welcomed by three rams: Einstein, Newton, and Hawking, and a flock of loud geese.
Old historic town of Jacksonville was founded in the mid 19th century. It was a prosperous gold mining town. Few decades later when the gold miners left the area and the railway bypassed Jacksonville, the town economy collapsed. Town was left with empty businesses and homes. The beautiful old downtown Jacksonville is now a National Historic District.
A traveler's delight, Oregon can be roughly divided in two main wine producing regions: Southern Oregon, then theWillamette Valley to the north, with its sub-appellations of Chehalem Mountains, Yamhill-Carlton District, Ribbon Ridge, Dundee Hills, McMinnville and Eola-Amity Hills. Sub-appellations in the Southern Oregon region are: the Applegate Valley, Red Hills Douglas County, Rogue Valley, Illinois Valley and Umpqua Valley.
No matter whether you choose to getaway to Northern OR or venture into its Southern terroir, it's perfect for a mini-escape!

i've got to pack for this weekend :) i'm attending a local festival called applejam, out in the applegate valley. it's going to be beautiful vibes and beautiful music; i really can't wait. i am blessed enough to be going with a friend who is providing me with a vip pass for free, which means i'm going to go ahead and camp out all weekend :)
