What if Mouseshell’s dad is named Applesting not because he has a sharp tongue or is good at fighting but because he gets stung by bees all the time

I’ve decided on “Doebur didn’t know about her cousin’s crimes or that Mouse or Apple were in the Dark Forest” and they end up meeting while Doe is on the run and they’re both just like “tf are you doing here??”

okay on the one hand Applesting would always love his mate in life and it would be very hard for him to move on. I don’t picture him ever fully wanting to take someone else

On the other I have this image in my head of him real nervous and shaky and giving someone a flower

My favourite thing honestly is how Wildkit fits right in, he doesn’t even look out of place

I don’t picture Mouseshell as a parent (at least not yet), but I do want to give her a dynamic with a kit

so I was thinking that a kit becomes attached to her and she’s like “no nuh uh I’m not adopting you. Dad help me”

and Applesting is SUPER happy to raise this kit and Mouse becomes their adoptive big sister instead. At first she’s not too happy about it because she doesn’t like her own sisters (actively hates Ivypetal, more so just feels meh about Tigerdawn)

but then Applesting is like “please don’t be so mean to them. Don’t you remember how upset you got when Ivypetal would say mean things to you? Don’t you want to be the sister you wanted her to be?”

and she kinda goes “you’re right I should be an AMAZING older sister to…spite her”

“no”

and anyways I imagine their dynamic is like:

Mouse: “no I’m not letting you call me mom, it’s weird”

kit: :(

Mouse: “but I am teaching you all the swear words so get your notebook ready”

Kit: :)

….

Mouseshell: “____kit has never done anything wrong ever in their entire life.”

Mouseshell: “okay they did many things wrong but it looked funny so I’m letting it slide.”

if you’re wondering, yes of course she develops actual love for the kit and doesn’t just continue caring for them out of spite. She becomes his protective big sis….who is also the worst influence in his life

imagine if Applesting FINALLY feels comfortable around someone else and he’s like “oh you should meet my daughter, she would love a new friend :]”

and this cat, who has met one of the most fearful, anxiety-ridden cats in the Dark Forest (turned happy sweetheart when he’s comfortable) and they expect his daughter to be the same.

Eaglefluff could use the “attacking unknown cat to protect kits” as a reason why she’s a good mother

and since Applesting knows Fleathistle and Bubblingface knows herbs, maybe they can give her something to help (because sometimes postpartum is caused by physical internal issues as well as trauma, so maybe she had both)
