How I shift! (more accurately: get into the hypnagogic state)
Disclaimer! I'm definitely not saying "This is the right and only way!" I'm just sharing how it works for me!
It's usually all the same process, but I have two main methods things I use. I don't apply myself personally with labels, saying "I believe in LoA" or "I do ___ method" I just go with the flow and follow what I want to do or feel most comfortable doing.
I lay down at night, same time I go to bed, but instead of going to sleep, I try to shift/manifest. Most generally, I'll lay on my back because it's just uncomfortable enough for me to not fall asleep but not too uncomfortable where I can't focus on anything else. Putting my headphones on and playing theta/alpha waves, brown noise, or a void state subliminal also keeps me awake as I have problems with falling asleep in the middle of a method.
I'll say in my head "I intend to shift/manifest." I'll let my mind wander and do whatever it wants (ADHD lol) and then after a couple minutes (maybe about 10-15 minutes) It'll naturally come back to my original intention, after that amount of time, I'll be relaxed enough but not too relaxed.
I'll do a body scan and tense up every muscle and then relax them. (This is more on the witchcraft side, but I'll cleanse my body by imagining a white light shooting through my body, afterwards I'll imagine a protective bubble around me)
I'll then start counting to 200 slowly, saying affirmations after every 10 numbers. If my mind wanders, that's okay, I just continue counting. Usually right before I reach 200, I'll start drifting into the hypnogogic state and that's where I say and repeat affirmations!
My second method is basically the same thing, I'm just intending I'm already IN my DR. Instead of affirming and counting to 200, I'll simply pretend I'm in my DR. I'll say things like "Can't believe I have to get up at 8 AM tomorrow" etc etc
This works the best for me, I keep going until I feel my surroundings change! (And then proceeded to get stupidly freaked out or I just fall asleep)
TLDR:
★ Say what I'm intending to do, Lay on back, sometimes with headphones on
★ Let mind wander, bring it back
★ Relax my body by tensing and then relaxing my muscles and then cleanse thy self
★ Count to 200 while saying affirmations after every 10 numbers. Body will relax until I'm in the hypnogogic state
or
★ do same process up until ★ (blue star)
★ pretend I'm in my DR by repeating random things about my DR
