Gentapprentice Prompts: Man About Town - “Whats your apprentice’s favourite place?”
When Malakai was a child, his favourite place was the Ash Beach a short walk from his home. He loved playing on and exploring the beach, and wandering close to the docks to watch merchant ships arrive, bringing new items for trade from around the world into the city.
As an adult, before the Red Plague hit Vesuvia, Malakai’s favourite place was the quiet nooks, rafters and catwalks of the Community Theatre, where he was involved in helping out backstage. He enjoys settling down in the rafters above the stage and watching rehearsals and performances from there in the brief moments when hes got no job to do, or when hes on a break. Sometimes he would sneak into the building while it was closed and empty to enjoy the space while its quiet.
After he was brought back from the dead, and lacking all memories of his life before, Malakai’s favourite places were the town square where he would people watch, and a forgotten small public garden he came across by chance one day while wandering Goldgrave. In this time shortly before the start of the plot, Malakai was feeling very lost and adrift. He never told him, but when Asra started going on journeys again, Malakai began taking his own short journeys, wandering around Vesuvia, trying to ease a restlessness he didnt understand.
After the end of Julian’s route, Malakai’s favourite place is the ship he and Julian share. It begins to feel like a second home. He loves travelling and seeing new places with Julian, and having the ship to go back to each time.
Nearing the end of his life, Malakai’s favourite place is once again the Ash Beach, where over the years he met the orphans he would come to adopt. Where he would spend days playing with them and teaching them new skills. Where he would take walks in the mornings and evenings with Julian. Where he would bring his grandchildren to play, to show them the tide pools and point out the merchant ships coming in to trade.
