Update and Questions Regarding a Next Update.

Hey guys! So, Ive got a few asks, asking how I am and what's happened, and why have I vanished from the face of the earth.

The last few months have been a bit of a mess. In good and bad ways?

Family sorta found out I don't wanna be part of the cult anymore, which led me to have a 3 day long breakdown. They took it... surprisingly well, maybe in part because I managed to get the house to my name before the shit went down.

I got into drama college, fun, took a few prep classes and then had to decide to wait another semester or two to join because shit's expensive and the fam is NOT gonna help on that. Acting is for sinners yadda yadda.

Grandma is going into early dementia and I've gone through a streak of uncontrollable sleepiness for which I'm getting tests.

I got a bit of a temp job and I'm working on opening a little store of handcrafted goodies.

But you guys are not here to hear about my life, that was just me ranting gratuitously. You want to know, is A Prince's Ruin gonna be updated? The short answer is: Yes, eventually. At least i want it to.

I have a list of basically how I wanted this fic to go on and eventually finish. According to my plans, it would end after another 10 chapters, which I had more or less planned out. But in all the months to follow, I've grown more and more self conscious of whether this planned development would be worth the wait. Would it be dissapoiting? Would it not be everything you guys wanted?

It started as my self indulgent smut fest, and then i got invested and got serious, and I'm like: all I've written so far is horror, porn, and campy sex comedies, I'm not versed in making angst end in a fulfilling way???

So, I guess what I'm asking here, is for you guys to indulge me, and answer a few questions for me? I guess to fine tune the rest of the fic into something not shitty?

What do you guys expect to see?

Ozai's torturous death?

Aang and the gaang finding about the shit going on at the Fire Nation?

Team up with Aang to take out Ozhit?

More dark smut?

Zuko once more, not catching a single fucking break?

Uncle Iroh saving the day?

Uncle Iroh catching this hands?

Azula redemption arc to get revenge for her and Zuko?

Everyone suffering thanks to Ozai being a big ass sexual deviant?

Zuko Happy ending?

Zuko sad ending?

Final big battle? (I warn you, I'm shit at action scenes)

Less hurt for Zuko, more comfort?

The revenge of Zhao and his charbroiled dick?

This are just prompts, you literally can come here and suggest me anything. Just, send me and ask with your requests and I'll probably consider it. If not, it will at least get the creative juices flowing to help me write for this again.

While I work on the next update, would anyone be interested in some background info of how A Prince's Ruin came to be?

It's funny, it started with a dream about a week after I started watching Atla on Netflix. The idea that became the fic came before I even finished the show.

Could you expand on your writing process during Ozai & Zuko's wedding in A Prince's Ruin because I loved the way you conveyed the emotions and also because it pulled on my heartstrings reading it . You conveyed the wrongness and Zuko's confusion stunningly in the story so thought I would ask

This is gonna sound bizarre but before I write this kinda scenes I tend to close my eyes and like, immerse myself in the scene and what kind of emotions would be involved.

Most time as writers we haven't gone through the explicitly same situation as we're writing, but I like to grasp the core of it and try to relate it to a thing I have experienced. This scene, for example, I know what it's like to be trapped in a situation where you would rather be anywhere else, and it slowly dawns on you that you can't say or do shit to get out of it. Or craving for an affection even if it's given in the entirely wrong way.

So I tried to make a realistic portrayal of the storm of emotions that would occur? First confusion, a bit of shame because let's face it, Zuko's a boy who's always been pushed to be strong and ruthless, and he's in a situation where those things are being pulled away from him, where he feels like he was not enough. And then Ozai springs the wedding shit on him and like, on one hand he's been taught all his life that his father is right, and can't do wrong, that Zuko will always be the problem. But Zuko's also aware that there's something wrong here, that he doesn't want this, even if, as a prince, he's been somewhat sheltered and innocent, he knows enough to distinguish what's right and what isn't. But to admit what's really going on would be too hard to accept, so he'd rather believe he's the one thinking wrong, he's the one that should accept this. And he tries to scramble for ways on why this is right, on how to make it right, but there's always that voice in his head telling him the truth, trying to make him face what is happening, and he can't accept it, so he'd rather completely dissasociate with it, or lie to himself and believe this is good.

Idk if I'm making any sense? I can clarify if you have more questions. But this is the usual way I go about it.
