#glossybox #aprilglossybox Love the perfume.
My final beauty box of the month has arrived! #GlossyBox arrived in its usual pink colours (a tad disappointing since my others arrived in beautiful colours of Spring), Glossy generally provides full sized or larger samples than the others. Priced at £10 per month (plus P&P), there are also subscription offers available from GlossyBox, if you want to save a little each month and are happy to ay up front. Check out Glossy subscriptions here
Let’s take a look inside this months GlossyBox:
Next: Make Me Beautiful, Sheer Chubby Stick
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Claims: Unlike your usual lipstick, this is in crayon form, making application easier than ever! Long lasting and softening due to the inclusion of plant waxes and oils. This full sized product retails at £8.
First impressions: This is my first encounter with Next’s make-up line. To those reading outside the UK, Next is a department store and high-street fashion line. Of course, many high-street stores are experimenting with their own make-up lines now. I am happy with the colour selected for me in Cherry Red. When I wear lipstick, I generally tilt towards Red colours (this is a pinkish red – see swatch), I definitely can see myself using this.
Leighton Denny Expert Nails: Miracle Mist
Claims:There is nothing more annoying than smudging freshly painted nails (preach!) This speed-drying Miracle Mist will save the day, making lacquer touch dry in mere seconds! Received in full size, retails at £12.
First impressions: Well if can live up to those claims, Im super excited. I’ve always got something on the go, so when I paint my nails, I inevitably smudge. Of course, as a jewellery blogger, my nails need to be looking good and this is a product I am keen to try!
Studio 10: Brow Lift Perfecting Liner
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Claims: Super creamy and long lasting, this double-ended brow pencil comes equipped with a defining shade to flatter all hair colours and a brightening highlighter on the other end to enhance the arch of the brow. Another full sized product, retails at £22.
First impressions: First off, let me start by saying Studio 10 is part of the #raise1brow campaign to support women with cancer – if you are in the Uk and wish to support this charity, you can do so by texting Brow10 followed by the amount you wish to donate to 70070 (for example Brow10£5). On to the product, I think it may be a tad to dark for me, having swatched it on my hand. But you never really know til you try it out. My first encounter with this brand, it is one which is cruelty free and they love their Vitamin E ingredients (my ultimate beauty ingredient) – I definitely want to find out a bit more, so stay tuned and I’ll let you know how I get on!
The Body Shop: Oils of Life, Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil
Claims: This best selling and lightweight face oil revives the complexion. Infused with a blend of 3 restorative oils, it leaves your complexion radiant and nourished. This was received in a sample size of 7ml. Full size is 30ml and retails at £28.
First impressions: The blend of oils used is Black Cumin seed oil, Camellia seed oil and Rosehip oil. Black Cumin is one of those ingredients which claims to cure all diseases but death itself (which means it’s nondescript and likely has limited benefits) but there does seem to be some support in its microbial properties when ingested, so I guess this could have similar effects when applied topically. Camellia is a well known moisturising oil, its commonly used in many Asian hair products as it aids in moisture locking. I have a fair share of shampoo’s and conditions which are rich in Camellia, and they are great! Rosehip is seen in many skin care products – it is rich in Vitamin A and Tretinoin, which is a topical retinoid used to treat acne and Keratosis pilaris (commonly known as chicken skin). The product itself claims to be 99% oil, and its ingredients list doesn’t look too bad on first glance. It is quite fragrant though, which does frighten me a bit. I am a sensitive type and I worry about the added essential oils causing a breakout (they claim a blend is added but non specific it what that blend is?). The scent is also quite unisex, so it doesn’t seem just targeted to women. I am excited to try it out to see if it does meet the hype surrounding it.
STYLondon: Temporary Henna Tattoos
Claims: Inspired by traditional Moroccan henna, these pretty white temporary tattoos are the on-trend way to accessorise this summer. Received a full size sheet and retails at £5.99.
First impressions: If you have ever visited my Instagram, you will know I like to style my jewellery with henna tattoos – they are great fun and an ideal way to rock the festival fashion trend. My beauty boxes this month have had a fair few pieces geared towards my hands, and I like it! I have had temporary tattoos from this brand before, and they have always been pretty decent. If you want to try some yourself, you can get some at half price with the code GLOSSYBOX at www.stylondon.com
With April’s GlossyBox I received 4 full size products and a sample product. The Miracle Mist Nail Polish Dryer looks like a winner and I will no doubt use the temporary tattoos on my hands when photographing jewellery. I feel like these products are really aimed at me, which I like. I am giving this months box a 7.5/10
