Little confused, why is PI being counted as season 5?

It's something to do with the way the episodes were ordered. The official Fresh blog doesn't make it easy to look for old posts, but I remember when season 5 was first announced, it said something like "Season 5, we're back to 26 episodes! The first half will feature classic competitors, while the second half will feature a new cast we're sure you're going to love." It must have been an old post because it was there when I got here toward the end of 2012.

Plus, I saw a scan of the finale script which called the episode the 26th episode of the season and the 117th episode of the show, which would only work if Pahkitew is the second 13 episodes of season 5.

And Julie Giles has been making Facebook posts about a season 6 which features classic and new competitors, which doesn't fit Pahkitew.

So, Pahkitew is season 5 as far as the network is concerned because it was ordered at the same time as All Stars. I have no idea of they could have made season 5 into one 26-episode game and they didn't, or if this was Teletoon/CN's idea. After a certain point, I can only guess.

So after Pahkitew finishes, we'll have five seasons, six games.
