I'm confused. Is Aqua Current officially a female only character? I'm still very far behind in the novels and I always assumed they were non binary. Even their eccelerated and non eccelerated avatars hiding obvious gender traits. I really enjoyed their character as NB. I thought it was a great metaphor, an androgynous character whose elemental avatar is completely hidden by pure water, literally weaponizing the term "Gender Fluid". I'm disappointed that the fandom and the series didn't stick to that. They are a great character, and I love that Nega Nebulous is comprised of powerful asskicking females, but Aqua Current was THE PERFECT character as NB. COME ON! How do you not enjoy gender fluid jokes with an androgynous water element character?
