But in Asahina’s case there is no incentive, no authority figure forcing her to spend time with him. She just does it, albeit in a rather overbearing way sometimes. He does appreciate it, even if he doesn’t appear to. His persona must be maintained. Which is one of the reasons why he continues to refuse her offers.
The other reason is the fact that he can’t swim. He really does not want her to know that. He suspects she’d laugh at him.
