last year back when our pool was more of a pond there were a whole heap of little critters living in there! i do miss them but it's nice to have a pool again lol

Nepomorpha (Aquatic Bugs)-Gelastocoridae (Toad Bugs)- Gelastocoris oculatus (Big-Eyed Toad Bug) Male and Female. 

Latin oculatus '[big-]eyed'

Size 6-9 mm

Identification A common, though well-camouflaged bug of muddy freshwater shorelines.

Some characters:walks, or sometimes, hops sides of prothorax projecting coloration extremely variable

Range throughout the contiguous US and in so. Canada (ON, MB); Mexico

Habitat muddy shores of streams and lakes Season spring through fall
