although i handle plenty of shy animals for easier photos, Siphanta acuta is definitely not one of them, as they're usually happy enough standing completely still on their branch of choice and bothering them for a better angle will just result in them jumping away. so it's certainly a surprise that this one ended up on my finger somehow and was so polite about it

a Common Assassin Bug, mouthparts extended as she sneaks up on an unsuspecting Grass-dart (who escaped unharmed). definitely some of my favourite photos I've ever taken, and such a fascinating moment to witness!
Common Assassin Bug (Pristhesancus plagipennis) and Narrow-brand Grass-dart (Ocybadistes flavovittatus), April '24.
This poor fly was dying so I took him to see Weezer
hello my dears... pale white planthopper nymph today... maintained very still for my photos
i dont have much to say here because its hard to ID planthoppers to species when theyre still in their nymph form and have barely developed their shapes and colours. this one is from the family Issidae.
pure white eyes. cutely shaped. tinge of brown. stayed still and hopped away when i was done
Had a literal celebrity encounter today
Everybody gives so much love to beetles and butterflies and no love whatsoever to true bugs. Where are my Hemiptera stans? Where are my weird bug in charge of the night time voters? Where are my cicada ride-or-dies? All of you are fake bug enjoyers unless you can let her (acanthocephala terminalis) into your heart
