Execution meme: Regina's eyes burned with the threat of tears that she did not dare succumb to. What would people think if she were to breakdown at the execution of a slave. She purse her lips tightly, her gaze meeting his with a look that said more than any speech could. She had fallen for the gladiator and watching him about to meet his end was breaking her heart. Her breathing became labored as the time neared and she was no longer able to hide her sorrow.

Mark stared out at the mob gathered to watch him die as they readied the cross. They wanted to see the gladiator die, the one they cheered for. The one accused of rape. His damn fool of a dominus’ pride was wounded that a slave could please his wife better than he could.

But when Regina’s eyes met his through the crowd. Her sadness and he wasn’t sure if he pitied her or if he wished she were up here with him. All she had to do was stand up to him, but she was too frightened to fight. It seemed it was Mark’s fate to die because of the foolishness of women. The last thing he saw was Regina starting to break before they forced him down onto the cross. It wouldn’t be long now, maybe he’d honored the gods enough in the arena that he won’t be sent to Tartarus.

Emma glanced at her rear-view window, for what felt like the hundredth time, at Regina's slumped form. "Shit." She mumbled under her breath, "Just keep pressure on it so the bleeding will stop!" She growled under her breath at the stupidity of this situation, it had seemed like such a good idea at the time. Henry had mentioned wanting to go sledding and Emma had thought that would be a perfect non-dangerous outing for the whole family to go on, so she had invited David and Mary Margaret while Henry had invited Regina. Turns out they were wrong. "Seriously, Regina what were you thinking? Henry and David barely handled that hill did you seriously think you could take it on head on?"
