Cryptid of the Day: Arabhar
Description: The Arabhar, which means “Arab Snake”, has two rumored means of flying. Some claim the snake has bat-like wings, while others claim it has a specialized spine that allows it to slither into the air, a fleet of biology that has never been seen before in any other animal.

The Arabhar is a winged snake allegedly found living near the Arabian Sea. The Arabhar is described as a snake that is able to fly through the air with it’s leathery wings. Not much is known as the Arabhar but people do believe that they are actually a known species of flying snake that are able to glide long distances through the air by leaping from tree to tree.
Happy inktober, everyone! This is the first inktober I've been able to fully participate in, and I'm excited to really improve upon my inking skills. I'm planning on doing a list of cryptids A - Z with a bonus of my 5 favorites at the end! A is for the Arabhar, a flying snake said to live near the Arabian Sea. There are various beliefs surrounding the nature of its flying abilities. Some say it has bat-like wings, while others say it uses a flap or spine to glide through the air. Some skeptics believe that these accounts may have just seen a snake belonging to the genus Chrysopelea, which are known to "fly" from tree to tree by jumping through the air.
Cryptid of the Day: Arabhar
Description; In the 5th century, the man claimed to be the first historian, Herodotus, penned an account he had while visiting the Nile Delta in present day Bupullus, Egypt. In the account, Herodotus claims he went to a place in Arabia in order to look for a winged serpent. He described the snake as sporting leather like wings, not feathered ones like those of birds. In regards to the snake, he stated “if they could increase as fast as their nature would allow, impossible would it be for man to sustain himself on the earth”.
