Imagine...
As an adopted human raised by elrond in rivendell you are usually ignored by the other elves, sometimes left to run wild if you get way from the cartaker/guards at the time.
But today it is unusually quiet for some(Elrond), while others are just thankful for the peace until the next storm comes(like Lindir.)
You've seem to taken refuge in your room, only to be seen once in the halls in search of something. An odd note as well, your circlet had been missing the times people had seen you, which was strange as it was a favored gift from your (naturally older) sister Arwen.
Deciding that it was better to know what you were doing rather than be left in mystery, Elrond had decided to take leave of his work/schedule to see what you had occupied yourself with this whole evening.
Lindir had followed close after, also curious and weary of what the child had been upto. Leaning their ears close to the door they could clearly hear the sound of metal tinkering and a sudden shout of pain from a young child.
With that sound Elrond took it as his cue to enter the room of the young mischievous 13 year old. But to his sight he saw the young girl turning to hide, obviously understanding what she was doing was some level of trouble.
Elrond sighed, "What now have you done now that you are trying to hide nîn ithil(my moon)"
Not wanting to admit your mistakes and face the consequences your gaze slowly shifted to the ground the longer you stood facing him. Giving you around minute to explain yourself, with no budge, he took long gentle strides over to the vanity only to see wires and gems thrown about.
It was the circlet Arwen had given you, that was once gifted to her by her brothers. Something maybe not priceless for the jewels were not the finest nor was the metal something as precious as silver or gold. But something genuine and dear held to a person heart.
You could see the disappointment sculpt out Elrond's face, the longer he stared at the cut up wire and torn out gems. Patiently you stood to the side waiting for the lecture and yelling you were to receive. Lindir had not left his spot since entering the room, but stared in slight horror as his Lord gently picking up the gem that had once been the center of the silver looking crown.
"What compelled you to do this child?" He had asked with a reserved temper of a thousand men.
"I don't know," the child like answer fell from your mouth with out a second thought.
"You don't know know," grasping the gem with his fist gently and had begun to pace the room, "was it spite?"
"No" you muttered ashamed, the back and forth banter continued.
"Anger?"
"No."
"Revenge?"
"No.."
"Jealousy?"
"No..."
"Then WHY!" Lord Elrond had finally snapped out of anger and confusion. Even Lindir flinched from the unknown depth of his Lord's anger. "You are given a precious gift from you dear sister Arwen, and you destroy it! For what reason? You do not know?"
At this point your emotions had left your control, eyes began to tear up, lip quivering at the disappointment in his voice. But you simply stared at the ground as the tear fell straight out of your eyes.
"I..." You took a moment to collect your voice, "i-i wer-was trying *sniff* to make e-ears."
You choked out some of the words, and stuttered over the other, but Elrond heard you clearly. Still though he didn't understand.
"Make ears, what?..." he looked over the desk once more and saw on a scribbled paper a design for jewelry that looked similar to the shape of a traditional elven ear.
You began to scramble for words to further explain. "I-i though that iv-if-i could cut up the wires and melt them back together tha-then they wpuld stop ignoring me."
It took some mental gymnastic for him, but he was able to make out somewhat of what you were saying. "You were trying to make metal elf ear, so they would stop ignoring you. Who, nîn ithil, is ignoring you?"
Elrond had calmed down now, speaking with a gently tone to sooth the now sobbing child.
"Everyone!" You were now the upset one, your temper and emotions had never been like the elves. Among other things, "no one is my friend here except my siblings, but Aragorn is gone, Elladan and Elrohir are gone or busy, and Arwen is in Lothlorien."
You snorted back snot and wiped you red face of all the tears that had littered it, "and when I walk around Imladris everyone ignores me, or glares as they walk past. No one talk to me like I'm a statue to be viewed from afar. Not a person with feelings or thoughts."
At this Elrond felt a twang of guilt, yes he was a busy man but he knows in the back of his mind he had not made time when he could for young child before him. Similarly Aragorn had gone through such a faze, elves being so much different than humans in wants and needs, but he had Arwen. You were left to your own devices, and now, he can see why you always acted out.
"I see." He gently took you into an embrace as you let out the rest of your sobs into his robes. Once he pulled away though, a cloth was applied to your face as he wiped the snot and dribble from your features. "I am sorry to say that I did not realize sooner nîn ithil, that you were hurting in such a way, and I did nothing to help."
"And though I understand," he continued, "you must still face consequences for your actions." You nodded at this, feeling content and happy that Elrond knew and welcomed your feelings. At this point Lindir had collected the dismembered circlet and took it else-were.
"But I am still confused," Elrond mentioned, "how to did you plan to smelt the metal back together? Bribe the blacksmith?"
"No," you muttered, "I was gonna use the candles but it wasn't working for some reason."
Your child innocence had always amused Elrond, him being a thousand year old being surrounded by ancients who seemed to know everything. But this was a new leap.
His laughter erruped into the halls as he gently placed and arm around you. "Come child," he chidded, "let us go for a long awaited walk. The moon is espically bright tonight."
"But what about my punishment?" You mentioned before regret.
"Oh I did not forget," he thought for a second, "for the next month you are to help me study the other elven realms and make visits."
"That doesn't sound too bad..." You trailed off once again before regret.
"And keep a certain young elven prince occupied while I have meetings with his father and Galadriel." Elrond knew of your distaste for the mirkwood realm, though beautiful along with its people, little could be said the same for the Prince's innards.
"Nooooooooo..." You lightly wined as you continued your walk by the fountains.
