Self-indulgent status update with this post, but I just wanted to say that my pals and I finally finished playing the Lost Mine of Phandelver D&D campaign last night after starting it at least 3 years ago. It was my first DMing experience, and such a great time despite all the weird scheduling conflicts and maybe not working the story as well as I could have at times. It’s been a learning experience, and I for sure came a long way.
I’m already preparing the next “Season” of the campaign, to take place 1d6 years later and follow up on the party’s actions from the first adventure. Though, some of the players will be using new characters, which will make for some interesting events, I have no doubt.
I’d like to give a preview of the next story, but I want to be sure exactly who the Player Characters will be before I say too much too soon. In the meantime, I guess all we can do is call Season 1 a wrap and roll the credits!
@storms-in-orbit as Hálon, Wood Elf Sorcerer, and Nemia, Tiefling Cleric (RIP)
@molecricket as Lendan (and the Archfey), Half-Elf Warlock
@theflib as Hornraven Balasar, Dragonborn Druid
@overtheflagpole as Aralynn, Half-Elf Paladin
Also starring our non-tumblr(?) pals as Ander and Thela, Humans Rogue and Ranger, respectively.
The party’s status at the end of the adventure? “All alive” is the short answer. Lendan is free from the Archfey’s control, but his memories are disrupted and his broken pact resulted in a loss of the majority of his Warlock magic. Hálon goes on with Lendan, pretty much retired from adventuring now that his dear friend is safe. Aralynn begins to attune herself to the dead villain’s Spider Staff, happy to have made friends on this adventure… SO MANY FRIENDS (she says, looking around at both the party and the spiders). Hornraven, having nearly died while his traveling companions were trying to get the Archfey subdued, rides into the forest on the back of an owlbear, presumably to take a holiday from anything spindly and eight-legged for the time being. The whereabouts of Ander and Thela are as yet unknown, but in any case, the whole party will forever be remembered in the strange and more than slightly magical history of Phandalin.
Thanks for playing, and see you next season!
