Let's yap about one of the least liked characters in Arcane: Singed.

I think one of the main problems was that his daughter was dying. If my child was dying and I was a scientist with all the equipment at hand to save her, then I would fuck any ethos and do my best. The problem was, that he was found out and the ultimate answer to any wrong-doings in Piltover seems to be banishment.

I'll come back to that in a second.

In Zaun, he did not have the proper equipment to develop save stuff. I think, if he had been in Piltover instead of a friggin cave, Shimmer would have been safe to use.

He probably was a reputable scientist before his daughter fell ill, otherwise he wouldn't have worked with Heimerdinger of all people, which is hinted at in S1 (verbatim: "That's why I parted ways with Heimerdinger").

Now, Heimerdinger is a 300something year old yordle, who founded Piltover as a bastion against magic after he saw the First Rune War, he probably set the rules, and out of his own fear, he never changed them. If anything was contrary to his belief in safety, it was banished. Be it from the academy or the city.

Singed told Babyvik that loneliness is the byproduct of a gifted mind, but Adult Viktor was never really lonely, he had Jayce, they matched each other so perfectly. I mean, Jayce even drew their brains together with little sparks.

I think, either Heimerdinger was that for Singed and they parted ways, resulting in Singed's bitterness which he kind of projected onto Viktor (as people do) or he really had no-one.
