Jayce had always been the kind of person who was simply hardworking and gave his all to make the place he found himself in the best it could be. He was slowly getting used to the Sanctuary, which had also become his home. He had finally decided to stay here with his beloved - and not for a single moment had he regretted that decision. Viktor's closeness fulfilled him in every possible way and made him long for things to stay exactly as they were.
Jayce stood beside Viktor in his Sanctuary, helping him with daily tasks. As always, he gave his full effort, focused entirely on what he was doing.
But suddenly, the world darkened, and the air grew heavy. Behind them stood a man - tall and familiar, but clearly exhausted. And yet, his eyes burned with the same fire Jayce had seen in his youth.
-You should be… right here right now.
The man said quietly. And before Jayce could respond, the stranger raised his hand. Something happened.
Jayce fell to his knees… but not in the Sanctuary. Everything surrounding him was different.
From behind a door came a voice
-Jayce? Ready for testing?
He knew that voice all too well. It was Viktor.
And yet, everything around him felt… different. It was…
He didn’t know how it had happened, but as he looked through himself and saw his old laboratory, he had to make sense of the absurdity he was now trapped in. He opened the door, fully aware of what he would see.
And then he saw his eyes -the ones he had once gotten lost in completely.
He stood there in silence for a long moment, fully aware of Viktor’s likely reaction. After all… Jayce hadn’t worn a beard back then. And now, he did. He looked different. The brace on his leg also told a story - of changes and burdens he now carried.
-I… I’m supposed to be here.
He said suddenly, still locked in his gaze with his friend.
