Blows my mind that some arcane fans can just so readily accept that Caitlyn gassing zaun was okay because she didn’t hurt anyone who was “innocent.” As if gas can just know and decide who is and isn’t innocent.

Especially the whole “Caitlyn only gassed criminals!!” argument.

As if piltover doesn’t see every single zaunite as a criminal, and the only “innocent” zaunite is probably the unborn, the still birthed, and the infants—who only survive infancy because someone older was willing to become a “criminal” in the eyes of Piltover, worthy of being villainized and murdered, to keep them alive.

Simply because, due to piltover’s indifference and neglect and callousness, zaunites have to eat somehow. Even if that means breaking piltover’s laws to do so.

any enforcer can go down to the undercity on a bad day and started beating, terrorizing, and murdering zaunites simply by accusing them of theft and go home without any repercussions. by those fans’ logic, it’s okay, because the enforcer said they were a criminal and not someone “innocent.” they were a “bad zaunite,” not a “good zaunite.”

tw: discussion of s-assault/s-harassment/s-misconduct

I know I really don’t post here anymore but I feel like SOMETHING has to be said.

Let me start this off by saying I LOVE Arcane. I love the art that has come out of it; by writers, artists, singers, and so many other people —but one of the things that makes it frustrating is the fandom.

Yes, everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. Especially If they like/don’t like a ship, if they like/don’t like a character, and so many other things!! However, something that is SO SO SO harmful is when people take an opinion of others and don’t investigate it any further, either fully embracing it, rejecting it, or not acknowledging it — and one that I’ve noticed would be the argument behind the shower/tea party scene.

That scene was designed to make viewers uncomfortable! There’s no doubt! They created it to have that haunting element where you’re viewing it and are wondering what comes next. It is a FACT that the scene where Jinx kidnaps Caitlyn from her shower is wrong, so why are we trying to find ways to justify it?

The scene itself is hard to navigate and it doesn’t explicitly fit into a category of s-assault, s-harassment, or even s-misconduct. what is canon in the show is that Jinx was watching Caitlyn in the shower, watching her, waiting to strike her move.

While she didn’t perform a ‘sexual act’ on her. It is still wrong, and leaves absolutely no room for justification and I am appalled that I have to even say that!! It is quite literally the definition of non-consensual voyeurism — so while someone can commit the act of non-consensual voyeurism without committing an assault, it is still undeniably harassment and it’s upsetting that it even needs to be said.

It has also been said “It is disrespectful to actual victims to call that SA” but that argument in itself is so harmful and insensitive. To this day people still struggle to figure out if they can classify as a victim because having that ideology is gatekeeping victim-hood and discouraging people to come forward to speak out and advocate for themselves and others.

This isn’t hate to anyone involved but it is a call to action! Have media literacy! Speak up when you see misinformation! Investigate on your own without having to rely on others opinions or asking an AI! Being educated on topics like these is so important and it leaves no room for being misinformed!
