In the MLP Comics its show that Changeling Queen have crystal balls or Scrying Spheres of sorts. Knowing that Onyx was going to locate and save her new children, Affection Seeker kept an eye on him...
...This tool is how she was able to stop 6 assassination attempts on her since taking over Onyx’s hive, although she would never admit this to the hive. Lest they try to rise up against her.
