Anyone else just really love the fact that Thomas Sanders is a chemist? I may have majored in art, but I’m a nerd for all things STEM. I took architectural drafting courses for few years in high school because it combined art with the more traditional aspects of STEM (have you heard of STEAM?) and at one point I even considered it as a career. Anyway, it makes me so, so happy to see the intersection of arts and sciences in Thomas’s videos and how they’ve shaped him as a person, and by extension seeing myself reflected in that.
In His Element, Micron pen and colored pencil.
In the Bestest Friend Tag video, Thomas asks Joan if they know what his element is, and this time he’s not talking about Avatar the Last Airbender… no, the answer is Iodine. Iodine, named after the Greek word for violet, is a lovely shade of purple in its gaseous form, a very similar color to a certain someone’s hair (Thomas, are you sure your favorite color isn’t actually purple?)… While I’m here, have some other sciency references from our purple pompadoured pal:
“It’s a metaphor, Erlenmeyer trash!” Roman (Fitting In)
“A chemist that can’t cook, that’s so backwards” (Thomas ANSWERS)
The Rainforest Rap… Logan’s whole spiel in Patton’s room… Logan…
I’m curious, what’s everyone’s element? Mine is Potassium. It burns with a lilac flame, its atomic number is 19 which is my birthday (and favorite number), and I just really like that its symbol is K? Have you ever responded to a text with Potassium instead of K? I may or may not have done that… Don’t judge, we’ve already established that I’m a nerd.
So, if you want, put your element and why you relate to it in the tags.
