A brief process discussion about a small commission for a private residence. Simple decorative forged mantle support straps - 2019 My client wanted understated but unique forged support elements to compliment a new mantle crafted from African Mahogany. The elements were to have limited visibility and not complete with the simplicity of the mantle. The straps had to be reshaped a few times, per my client's preference, to follow the contours / irregularities of the granite supports they were going to wrap around. This was complicated b/c I was returning to my studio with photos, soapstone marks and measurements to make changes (my torches and vices are shop-bound).
