Thinking about how while I was watching cr2 I was in the process of/had just left a really abusive job (highlights include a forced 30 hour shift without sleep) and the Beau arc with the Cobalt Soul hit me so hard.

When Beau told the Soul the whole situation with her own institutional abuse and basically being sold to the Soul by her dad, I expected there to be AT BEST some outrage by her particular mentors, maybe a slap on the wrist. But Dairon took it all the way to the top, Archivist Zeenoth was actually punished, and they told Beau that what had happened was wrong and that they as an organization were sorry and didn't want to operate like that. When Yudala told Beau it wasn't right and shouldn't have happened, I just sat and sobbed.

You don't get that kind of story, that kind of justice, very often. I was in a place where I kind of imagined it wasn't possible. And sure, it's fantasy, but I really really needed it.

Hey so I found this while looking up stuff for something no reason, don’t worry about it.

Zeenoth, for reference, was sentenced to 35 years for bribery and corruption, kidnapping, and conspiracy. Homeboy fucked up big time, given how small most of those sentences are.

So I should be sleeping instead of making this post, but my mind keeps going back to Zeenoth being held by the Cobalt Soul for taking bribes and it makes me wonder if this ties into Isharnai's prophecy at all.

Isharnai told Beau's dad that he would be humbled by that which he desired most. You could interpret that to mean bribing someone to take away the troublesome child that's sullying the family name, and reaping the consequences of it years later.

I would not be surprised if we find out at one point that Beau's dad has also been arrested; after all, it takes two to commit bribery.

do you ever just think about how stupid Zeenoth’s plan to get a payday for abducting Beau into the Cobalt Soul?  Like he managed to play it off as something that happens to the initiates to Beau so she doesn’t think anything is wrong, but still.  Best case scenario, Beau becomes a respected member of the Cobalt Soul, gaining favor and power in your organization with a chance she might have a grudge against him.  Worst case, she gets trained to kill people with her bare hands, and leaves the soul requiring her to be tracked down, in which case, you no longer get any money from the Lionetts and you have to track her down because she is your responsibility.  

But even ignoring the personal issues that Beau growing strong will bring to your door, you are part of an organization who roots out corruption and can literally punch the truth out of you.  what was his endgame?

AND ANOTHER THING!

Matt explicitly, intentionally invites Beau to Zeenoth's trial in a couple months. "Hey remember that horribly traumatic thing that got lost in the tidal wave of other horrible things???? Here's some closure on a silver platter."

And you know Marisha is gonna break all our hearts, because if she goes to the trial Beau will testify.

That episode is going to HURT. I can't wait.

Interesting info about Zeenoth from the Chronicles of Exandria book (taken from the wiki):

“Zeenoth was still actively involved in analyzing intelligence collected by Beauregard. In at least one instance, he acquired missing pages of her journal (about Caleb revealing his backstory) by means that would make other members of the Cobalt Soul uncomfortable; the name of Trent Ikithon had twice been rendered illegible.”
