He's adventurous but sensitive. I think Grouse would be a good fit--he's also adventurous and the less intimidating one.

Perhaps someone like Archwing, too, who's similar in that aspect to Grouse but also adores his granddad, Myrtlewing, whom Palekit is afraid of
