It was not like he had never faced kindness in his life. 

Because he had, more or less, though perhaps that kindness had been different from this one Yuni so kindly bestowed upon him,

He inspected her sleeping face, the violet eyes glimmering with curiosity and emotions he only barely knew how to express in a genuine manner. 

This child... No, this girl, this person... 

His hand tentatively touched her cheek, as if he was afraid that she would shatter upon the simplest of touches... or that she was simply an illusion, like so many times before. 

"Hey, Yuni-chan..." Did his voice just shake unnoticeably? Maybe. 

"I don't think I deserve your kindness, ne..." 

The softly spoken words faded away, no echo following them afterwards, and he continued stroking at the soft skin tenderly, almost too carefully. 

"Yuni-chan, I..." 

Of course he couldn't let the words pour out, no matter how much he tried, and eventually he let his mouth close down as he stared down at the sleeping Arcobaleno with a forlorn expression on his face. 

Talking about his feelings? What a joke. He couldn't do even such a simple thing as tell her this... 

A bitter, lonely smile raised his lips up.
