Thinking about “Rooster” being bestowed on Bradley by a Jake who is a fan of old westerns.
Anyone who asks for the reason behind it gets a slightly different answer.
“Have you seen him in the morning? He never wakes up before 11/wakes up at dawn/ he’s loud as shit, ends up waking up everyone else” or “His singing is just about as awful as a rooster’s call” or “he walks around like he’s gonna fight anyone who looks at him sideways” or a million other things.
But the truth is that Jake was watching Bradley at a get together one night, and saw him drunkenly struggling to pick up 2 plates of food along with a drink. And just as Jake was about to yell a comment about his handling skills, Bradley shoved the lip of the plastic cup in his mouth and picked a plate up in each hand.
So what came out, instead of a taunt, was “oh he’s pulling a Rooster” loud enough for others to hear, and it stuck.
What Jake meant was “he’s pulling a Rooster Cogburn”, but that would have required a long explanation.
