@arcturusforsaken from nobody said anything about anyone dying today
That's not how life works. People die everyday. And lot more are going to if Regulus doesn't do something about what he knows. He knows the consequences. He knows the pros and cons to doing what he must. It's not a want but a must. He has weighed everything. Every minute thing. This is the only way. He won't be missed.. Sirius and his brothers friends.. they would be.
So Regulus does as he always does. Keep calm and stoic when James speaks. But he doesn't respond to his words. "Good day, James." He said politely instead and moved to walk past him. Let them hate him. Or at least dislike him. It'll be easier for them to let him go.
James’ eyes narrow, mouth turning down in uneasy consideration.
He’s never liked Regulus— always thought he was a pompous little shit at best, or at worst probably chomping at the bit to join up with the death eaters. But... he is just a kid, and more important, he’s Sirius’ kid brother. They might be long estranged, but James of all people knows how much his best mate still worries about his brother.
And Regulus is acting strangely, he thinks. Like something might be... really wrong.
He called him his first time, for one thing.
James hesitates for a moment, grinding his teeth, but he sighs heavily and turns to catch back up with the younger wizard. “What, no time to talk at all?”
