Just a point that I don’t see made enough about New Year’s resolutions: THEY ARE A SHIT IDEA FOR MOST PEOPLE!
Let me explain my thinking. At least in the northern hemisphere where I live we are deep in winter. Just had the shortest day of the year. If you’re anything like me your regular depression is compounded by seasonal depression. And honestly? A random date change won’t make any meaningful difference in my ability to get shit done. So what happens is we try to push through that, maybe do ok for a little bit cause we’re riding the new year high, and then inevitably fail. And feel like shit cause we failed. But like, that shit ain’t your fault. Now is a TERRIBLE time of year for most people to try to make big life changes. And this is nothing on the way we tend to make awful goals for ourselves. So maybe don’t do that to yourself? Be kind to yourself and save those self improvement goals for spring. Make a first day of spring resolution this year instead.
