Ever so slowly been making a basket out of materials found just in my back yard, only working on it when I have some motivation

Using Areca leaves and cordage made from dried Yucca leaves (part of what takes so long - processing and twisting the cordage takes a while)

Until today I’d been using a regular, metal embroidery needle for it, but today I finally took one of the thorns I’ve had saved from our citrus tree and made a needle from it (using an x-acto knife, only thing I had that’s thin enough)

There’s something really moving about making this basket entirely by hand and using natural materials sourced entirely from my backyard. Obviously my technique could use some work but the process is the point for me.

(As a note, besides the previous needle and the x-acto knife to make the new needle, I also use a bowl, a knife, and a towel to process the yucca leaves, and clippers to harvest the leaves, so it’s not 100% natural nor is it meant to be)
