My first coiled basket! Made a few months ago. It's a little wonky but I think it's cute. Made from acrylic yarn and cotton rope.
haii!!! I wanted to put my progress somewhere! I'm native alaskan and I have a hard time connecting with my culture. the meetings I can go to are in a city and hour away and it's really hard to find the time. so instead I've been trying to connect with the natural world! after I have a cigarette outside my apartment I make at least 1 attempt at weaving grass.
after about 2 weeks this is where I was at.^^
a couple days later I was here :))!!^^
now I'm here!!! ^^I've been able to figure out how to work with the natural fold of the grass when I weave and have the spacing be consistent. now I'm trying to figure out how to close or create a circle.
I don't look anything up!!! maybe when I start figuring things out more if I do but it feels good for my brain and I have to pay attention to my medium more than what I'm doing wrong in terms of the techniques.
