A first look at the flat view of Areina’s map. If you squint hard enough you can see Celesta’s temple in the bottom right.

-I don’t have any cities added yet but I plan to, eventually

-All the anchors you see on the west coast are harbors. There’s a strict rule about sailing on the Areinian ocean: you don’t. Luckily, these coasts have learned how to ship cargo and trade between themselves only on this side where the danger is most manageable.

-Pay no mind to the blurry crossed out thing in the middle of the mountains, that’s, err, a mistake! Yes, yes, an error of placement. Ignore it, it’s not important haha!

-Added cacti in the middle to separate and clarify: Southern half is Middle East desert style, middle half is North American desert style, and northern half is South African desert. I wanted to play around with all of these styles of desert so I just copy pasted them in lol

-Azuro camps out in the oasis furthest to the southeast corner, under Celesta’s temple on the map. Yep. That’s his hideaway. (Kosma is sorta in the northwest area to both of these things but it isn’t marked)

How advance is the technology in the paper gured?

Short answer, not very! XD

While Areina is - and for the longest time has been - a refuge for different species across its neighboring star systems, its taken in all of those refugees at their most critical points, leaving little place to take anything of their own homelands with them. The last fragments of destroyed planet's populations fled to Areina through portals, and that was the last they ever saw anything from their home again.

And even after having lived in harmony with several species for so long, Areina's technology is extremely far behind itself, for a lot of reasons. Mostly, it's fear. Fear always stops people. In the case of Areina, it's the fear that technology or magic - like mirror portals - will draw the attention of attackers. Namely, of Morbus. They lost their last homes to Morbus, they're not going to give them a chance to do it again.

This particular generation of the world also lives under the rose-tinted lenses those survivors left for them, the idea that living in a world free of technology is "safer" and "better". Communities push for old ways of living, discriminating and outright banning anything that says otherwise. This is especially why mirror gates are illegal.

So yeah, they live without technology for the vast majority, unless you want to get caught and arrested. Now they DO have some communities with more or less inventive nature than others (so like, some wind-powered machinery and non-electrical machinery is sometimes seen in certain regions) but for the most part, it's oil lamps, wood-burning stoves, and hard labor.
