Hi guys! Miss me? Now that Celestial Crowns is down (barring a few Kickstarter rewards, which I am working on, promise!!) I am looking back at continuing Arena Circus.

The problem is, the code has gotten so old now that it doesn't run well in new versions of Ren'py, and I'm using code so old I barely recall how it works anymore. So I think I'll need to do an update to get it up to speed before I start writing the next chapter.

That being said, I still want to give you guys more content since you've waited SO LONG and I think what I'll do is begin Chapter 1 from Aldrich's perspective. That way I can still test out the new code with existing scenarios but still give a fresh experience. From there, I'll continue writing chapter 5 rather than breaking to do another game in between like usual.

Also, here's the scoop on the new assets I've been talking about:

Music: New soundtrack will beb implemented in next update.

Sprites: I got a lot of backlash for the sprite redesigns, and I'm tired of redrawing these guys over and over again anyway, so I'm just going to keep to the old style.

CGs: I was collabing with someone to help these go faster, but I just don't have the money to spend on it anymore, so I'll be doing them myself again. So it'l lbe a slower process. Even... slower ^^;

BGs: same as above.

Minyan Studios will be rebranding to harlevin! 

My little studio of one will now be known as "harlevin," or HARLEVIsual Novels. 

What does this mean? 😯

Not much, really! Link names will change, banners will change, my splash screens will change, but you guys will still get the same awesome 🎪 circus-y content you want. At least, I hope you want.

All patrons have access to the AC beta. I'm super excited to bring this update to you. However keep in mind that this is still just a beta, so all assets are not final! I'll slowly be adding in more CGs as I go along. 

As I continue to update the beta and add more scenes, areas that might seem sparse now will fill up more. Also, there isn't a whole lot in the shop just yet. BUT, as you've seen, I'll be doing a PUBLIC livestream next week, during which I'll be taking viewer requests and drawing new clothes. Everyone is welcome! 

Vote here on a day that works for you. I'd like to hear your feedback on the gameplay! It's different from the previous chapters in subtle ways, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on how I can improve it.

Next Step

Hey guys! Now that the beta update has been launched, I’ll be working on implementing voices into chapter 1 of The Pretenders Guild! Once that’s done, I’ll start on the next beta update. So check out @thepretendersguild for my weekly updates! This tumblr will remain quiet until I finish that. I estimate it’ll take around two months.

Circus Summary 8/18

Hey all! 

Not too much to tell with this update—I’ve mostly been working on getting packet up and ready to leave the country, and now I’m safely back home. I did finish two new outfits:
