Guide Princess Tazenkwet through mystery and romance below and above water in this historical fantasy reimagining of The Little Mermaid.

For hundreds of years the merfolk realm of Tiraline has prospered within the North Atlantic waters off the coast of Morocco. The Leader (Agellid) overlooks this domain, represented by the seven noble daughters, maintaining peace through exploration and diplomacy across the underwater realms. 

However, after a mysterious attack leaves the realm without a Co-Leader (Tagellidt), the Agellid condemns all interactions with humanity, leaving the truth of her disappearance a mystery. While the merfolk council are content with this new reality, the youngest daughter, Tazenkwet, seeks answers. Defying her father’s decrees, Tazenkwet develops a deep fascination with humans, going so far as to rescue a drowning prince.

Tired of hiding her interests, not knowing the truth of her mother’s death, and unable to find her place within Tiraline, Tazenkwet makes a forbidden deal with Khandisha, the sea witch, to turn herself human and uncover the truth. But this bargain has a price, for if she cannot receive true love’s kiss from a royal by six month’s time, she will turn into sea foam.

Now voiceless, navigating an unfamiliar body in the strange world of humanity, Tazenkwet must find her footing in The Danish Royal Court, a structure of mystery in and of itself.  She must gather her courage, apply her wits, and maintain her moral clarity to survive the rigidity this new world imposes upon her.

Guide Tazenkwet above and below dangerous waters. Untangle human and merfolk mysteries. Fall in love or carve your own aromantic path. And decide, in the end, what you are willing to risk for the truth.
