When I started making things with reclaimed wood in the late 70's, there was no shortage of people eager to give away old beat-up wood. Through the years, as reclaimed wood grew in popularity, freebies became harder to find. The large stockpile that I managed to accumulate during those early years has dwindled, and I was in desperate need of a big score. Well, folks, today I got what I needed; unlimited access to a sprawling 120-year-old ranch in the Barren Badlands of Central California. There are piles and piles of beautiful weathered wood from demolished packing sheds and other outdoor structures just waiting for me and my trusty chainsaw.
