🔥 - indie versus group roleplay

okay so... first off, for a little background, i joined tumblr rp first as part of a group right before season 3 of tw aired. i had no idea what tumblr rp was until i found a group on tumblr that were rp-ing with a specific style of url.. i had no idea what i was doing, but i messaged one of them, and joined up as a tw muse with a similar url setup. and the rest from there is history. so that was my first experience in group rp.

from there, i ended up going indie, and while i tried to be in another group with a sideblog and everything, i just found that it wasn’t for me. i think that part of the problem i had with the group i was in was that i’d be messaged every few days or so about whether or not i’d seen a reply, or when i planning on replying to a group thread. now, don’t get me wrong, i get that activity checks are part of being in a group, or most groups, but for me, being reminded constantly about rp threads is one of the biggest turn offs for actually wanting to write. i have a hard enough time with keeping my muses on a good day, bc they’re so temperamental, but shit, if you keep reminding me, it’s gonna make me not want to talk to you, and not want to reply to anything you’re writing. (ngl, i’m a v contrary person, so you tell me to do something or remind me to do the thing, and i’m 110% less likely to want to do the thing...maybe i’m just that stubborn.)

i realize that this probably isn’t the best mindset to have, but that’s what happened in that last group verse i was in, and it completely turned me off from wanting to be in a group like that one. now, if my original group ever decided to get a group verse back up and running, then i’d be there in a heartbeat, but that group verse was one in a million and most other groups don’t have that kind of relationship between muns, at least not that i’ve found.

also, if you’re running a group verse that has a main blog to keep track of things, pls keep track of the blogs you message with invitations to join, so that when they politely decline your invitations, you don’t end up messaging them give more times on the same blog.
