In My Time of Dying
It was always one small thing, in battle. One different decision, one faster move, and Stiles would be sitting there with them.
And then, just like that, he was.
Merry Christmas, @nogitsuman!! <3

“Can’t anyone see me?”
Derek’s eyes flitted up at the sound, searching across the shadowed space. The rest of the group didn’t seem to have noticed anything, still huddled into each other or lost in quiet conversations.
He might have written it off – the voice that had sounded half like words, half like a whistle of wind in the closed space. But a flicker of movement at the corner of his vision caught his attention. A thin frame and brown hair, only halfway visible. Like an afterimage. Like he could blink, and it might be gone.
He didn’t blink.
He pushed himself up slow, heart pounding, eyes caught on the figure.
“...How are you here?”
STILES
Fingers tapped rapidly as nurses and doctors floated through the hospital floor, machines beeped and pens scratched as the girl waited on the cracked seat. For hours she had been waiting, twisting and untwisting fiery curls around digits as unease bubbled low in her stomach. It was only when the nurse smiled and invited her in did the bubbles turn to stone, weighing down as she took careful steps to the door. Her heels seemed to click louder then anything in the busy halls, the din only quieted when the door was clicked shut. "I'll give you some privacy. He's out for now, but should come around soon. If you need me, just press that button." She informed the strawberry blonde with a small smile. Out of politeness, the teen smiled back for a moment before turning her attention back on the motionless boy. He was tucked into the clinical white sheets, eyes closed and skin freckle dusted as always. Clad in a hospital gown, his usual pattern of plaid was no where to be seen, leaving a sting at the realisation. Taking a heavy breath, she strode forward to perch on the side chair. Lydia sat for a moment, watching the dark haired boy as the nurse left. Unsure about what to do, she settled for gnawing on her bottom lip, letting hazel green irises scan over his relaxed face. "You're a freaking idiot Stiles Stilinski." She whispered into the silent air, forcing down a sob as she reached out for the usual animated hand that now lay as if frozen in place.

Betrothed

“Don’t fidget so” Said Queen Natalie to her daughter as she fussed with her hair looking over the girls strawberry blonde braids loving. “You look very fetching.”
Princess Lydia gave her Mother a small smile.
“There,” she said. “You look even more beautiful.”
Lydia kissed her Mother on the cheek and they smiled at each other.
The sudden sound of horns announced the arrival of their royal guests. And the Queen gave her daughter’s arm an encouraging squeeze before she rose to greet King Stilinski and his son as the entered the great hall.
Both Mother and daughter curtsied. “Your highness” said the Queen addressing King Stilinski cordially as she gestured for Lydia to step forward.
“I’d like to present you with my lovely daughter Princess Lydia.” Once again Lydia curtsied demurely as was customary.
“Your highness” she said bowing her head and looking up through her lashes to set her green eyes on both the King and her betrothed.
