Are clip-on earrings safer than having your ears pierced?

There has been a long debate about whether it's better to wear clip earrings or go for having your earlobes pierced.  Over the years we've

The above website from Argentus Jewellery has this useful information on wearing earrings (clip ons and piercings) safely:

- Don’t wear earrings for longer than 6 hours. Check if your earrings are too heavy by clipping new earrings into your old earrings (if you’re wearing old earrings).

- Some small earrings can be heavier than bigger earrings depending on how thick they are and what metal or wood they’re made from.

You’ll need to adjust the screw on clip on earrings (sometimes with a screwdriver) to make sure they’re not too tight.

While ear lobe damage can be fixed well by plastic surgeons, it’s best to avoid damaging your ear lobes through heavy earrings as such damage is physically painful and surgery costs a lot of money (more than $1000).

My information: Wash earrings in vinegar, baking soda and warm water, or use rubbing alcohol. This will keep your earrings clean and prevent your earrings from giving you painful or unsightly ear infections.
