I get annoyed by those sorts of reviews as well. I'm only a human and can write so fast. I know people who leave those sorts of comments are so into the story that they want to see more soon, but it still comes off the wrong way and can hurt sometimes.
I usually don't have issues with those comments when they are reviews. I've been writing fanfic since... 2008, I think (I was a wee babby writer back then), when I used to write on fanfiction.net, so I've gotten them before. The thing that bothered is they sent it to my Tumblr ask, which could be seen as a more "direct" way to contact me, instead of leaving it as a comment on One Last Hope.
To be clear, I don't mind asks about my OCs (like Kora, Rosa, Sharvi -OC that formed when I got Jack's Platinum Card, Emmaline -The Prince Phillip OC for Silver, Calista, Emyr, and Arianell) or fic asks like for One Last Hope (Idia x Kora), Gather Your Roses (Vil x Rosa), or Eyes on the Stars (Silver X Emmaline). I love chatting about my fics. @avionvadion heard a TON about Silver and Emmaline already.
I do know when I get reviews on Ao3 because my computer alerts me cause I usually binge Avion's Once Upon a Dream or Forest Deep once a week when I'm decompressing from my college courses because they're comfort fics to read -even though Malleus and Sesshomaru are DEF not my favs, the fics help me with processing a lot with things in my personal life. So if I'm left a review on One Last Hope, I do see the alert. You just may not get a response from me there or one right away if you do.
I'm usually on Tumblr or Facebook or Insta or Tiktok to be talking to people or sending fun things or talk fic and give/get advice and information. I will welcome any asks about my fics. I may hide things because I don't want to spoil things. Usually what I'm vague about is tied to Kora and all the things about her that are revealed in Book 6.
The issue I had was the "When are you updating" was in the 'more direct' way to get ahold of me and I got no reviews besides Avion who knew when I updated because I was talking to them when I was finishing it up, or no follow up ask/comment about the fact I did go and update? That made me upset.
I had the idea a random person I didn't know was invested in my fic and I wanted to hear what they thought of the first full chapter. You come into my Tumblr asks to basically tell me that you want me to update faster when you could be asking me fun things like the cute almost romance moments Idia and Kora have due to being a slow slow burn or asking what happens with Emmaline and Silver since they are a Coffee Shop romance fic? Then I want to hear what you think when you push me to update.
Lol my two favorite dunces

Going to see a Lord of the Rings marathon with some buddies in a few weeks so if you start to see more of these two in a month... you know *wink*
What do you imagine Arianell and Deuce's romance to be like?
That is a question for @avionvadion, not me. I've stated before here and here that I won't ship them. I gave Avion permission yes, but I've stated before that have an IRL friend who likes Deuce. As I've stated in the second link, "Characters are very personal, so if I ask a person if it's okay to reference or put their OC in my writing, that's a sign I value that friendship enough that even the idea of putting in any OC I come up with gives me real guilt, even though I know it's fiction." I value my friendship with my IRL friend who likes Deuce and entertaining that idea isn't something I care to do because of my personal feelings of guilt that overwhelm me if I do that.
That said, Avion does not know my friend. Thus, I told Avion to NOT feel beholden to my personal rules for how I write. I told Avion that if they wanted to ship Deuce and Arianell, I had no issue with it, but I'm not gonna do it in my fic because I have a friend who likes Deuce, so I don't want to do that. A good suggestion for this, Avion and my fics are different playthroughs of the same game and there is a butterfly effect in place because our OCs are the Yuu, so things changed because of who was summoned. Different events take precedence for each of us and characters change based on how we perceive them.
A good example, Kora and Idia are a SLOW BURN OF A SLOW BURN. Eleanora and Malleus are NOT. As an example, while we know the status of Malleus and El in Once Upon a Dream, in One Last Hope, by the start of Book 6, neither Kora nor Idia have broached the idea of romantic feelings. In fact, Idia actively denies they are friends and pushes Kora away in a huge, nasty, ugly fight before Book 6 because Ortho talked to her about Idia throwing away all his internship offers and she agreed with Ortho he shouldn't have done that, so she tried to suggest he take the internship to Olympus Inc. As a result, Idia lashes out at her in a very targeted, hostile way designed to severely hurt her feelings and drive her away from him. Part of that is due to the fact he has romantic feelings for her he is not ready or willing to acknowledge. So, he drives her to tears because he's so afraid of his feelings, afraid of getting even closer to her, and afraid of the risk of even more pain if he loses her. He'd rather bury his feelings and lose her friendship (which he claims isn't there, but Idia has practically made his summer home in denial) by pushing her away than lose her by a cruel twist of fate when he's not expecting it.
Sorry for the Idia and Kora tangent, but I felt that might drive home the point that One Last Hope and Once Upon a Dream, while connected are very different fics and anything about the Arianell and Deuce ship should go to Avion.
What is Arianell's personality like?
Arianell's pretty quiet, like how the Cauldron is usually pretty still and in stasis. She's sweet and kind underneath, but she's very, very reserved. A good analogy, she's more like Ortho once you get past her walls and get to know her -sweet and polite-, but if you are human and she does not know you, she's as quiet as Idia and struggles to talk to people. Not selectively mute, just unsure of how to proceed. If you're a fae she doesn't know, she's still reserved, but she will talk to you more, just in very polite conversation, not really familiarly.
That said, she's resilient ("The Black Cauldron can NEVER be destroyed"), and the minute she gets serious about something, um... she can go very dark. After all, she's the Princess of the Court of Bone, but to clarify she's not a nocturnal fae, she's the equivalent of an Unseelie fae. I know they have diurnal and nocturnal fae in TWST, but I categorize Emyr and Arianell not by their awake period times, but by the term of Unseelie. I am using the meaning of Unseelie (Unhappy/Wretched) to describe what the Court of Bone is. It doesn't mean they hate humans, but they are... more offputting to humans as their magics deal in death bringers and wights and wraiths and blood.
Malleus is feared because of his power level. Emyr and Arianell are often feared not because of their power level but because their magics are tied to the very uncomfy truth of death and decay and the things that remind people they are mortal. Since both Emyr and Arianell know their magics make humans... uncomfy, they tend to keep to their lands and while willing to interact with humans, Arianell does NOT like to show off her magic because it tends to freak the human folk out. So she seems really anxious, uncertain, and shy around humans, which will likely startle Malleus because he knows Arianell to be well spoken and very polite, but she's gone into her shell at GloMas.
Can you talk more about that one Black Cauldron OC you have
I have two. Emyr and Arianell are both parts of the Black Cauldron with Emyr being Twisted from the Evil King who was melted into the cauldron and who's face you SEE on the Cauldron in the opening.
And Arianell who is Twisted from the Cauldron.
I can talk more about either. But I need a little more specificity please on who you mean and what you'd like me to discuss. Thank you!
*Slides into here to ask about your OCs*
What are Florana and Calista like personality wise? Are Soleil and Lunette connected somehow (like siblings, extended family, etc)? Which ones of those OC are staff members besides the TWST Lady one.)
(This is more of a side note, I'm not sure if you are referring to the books or the movie with the "Evil King from the Black Cauldron" bit of that one post. But if it's the latter, his name is the "Horned King". Sorry if I'm coming off as "well...actually...", I just wanted to give you the heads up for your own writing.)
Okay! So personality wise, Florana is a very much a romantic at heart. We don't see a lot of her in Rosa's story and not at all in Kora's, but she's a great support system for both Neige and Rosa later when Rosa is dealing with Neige and Rosa's parents find out Rosa basically eloped and DID NOT tell them and Rosa WON'T say who she married (Vil is not there and she won't say anything without him there). Florana has a lot of empathy and warmth and she likes to make silly jokes. An example, I reference the one really old Snow White comic about Prince Buckethead for how Neige and Florana first met and Florana likes to bring up that encounter because it makes both her and Neige laugh.
Calista is Rosa's best friend and is her roommate for the first and second year at RJA so you see Calista more in Rosa's story. First thing about Calista you'll be introduced to in Rosa's story is the fact Calista is very overprotective of her friends, particularly Rosa. Rosa had to talk Calista out of CURSING Berne into an ACTUAL BEAR when Berne broke up with her at the VDC where Vil overblotted. Calista also does try to differentiate herself and her magic from her sisters because she's the youngest, so she wants to be recognized for her own talents, not just what her elder sisters have done. While Malleus finds Calista annoying, Calista often gets fed up with Malleus in return, but she's hides her displeasure with him better. She's very well spoken and can be polite and agreeable when she wants to or needs to be. Malleus has a harder time masking his annoyance. Calista also likes humans. She learns names but doesn't hold them or use them against a person, she dotes on ones she likes, she doesn't have the prejudice Sebek and a lot of Briar Valley has or the distance Malleus does. She integrates with humans a lot more than most fae do, including her own sisters.
Also, just to clarify, the Evil King from the Black Cauldron is not the Horned King. I have a dorm for the Horned King, I'm talking about the Evil King mentioned in the Prologue of the Disney movie who had his spirit trapped in the Cauldron.
"Legend has it, in the mystic land of Prydain. There was once a king so cruel, and so evil, that even the gods feared him. Since no prison could hold him, he was thrown alive into a crucible of molten iron. There his demonic spirit was captured, in the form of a great black cauldron."
Fun fact, this is likely supposed to be Arawn from Welsh mythology, particularly the Mabinogi, because the writer of the Chronicles of Prydain decided to base the stories in Welsh mythology and the Horned King serves Arawn, who is the villain, in those books. But in Welsh mythology, from what I understand, Arawn seems like a pretty cool guy who takes care of Pwyll, Prince of Dyfed's kingdom for a year and helps it prosper while Pwyll acts as him so he can go fight Arawn's enemy for him.
Emyr= the spirit in the cauldron/(Arawn)
Arianell= the cauldron itself
