@coronaxfracta: Arianna & Valefor
A streak of black fur shot through the woods, racing past trees and leaping over fallen logs. The she-wolf stopped short, her ears perking forward as he stopped and listened. She lifted her muzzle and sniffed, moving forward and picking up the pace again. She moved swiftly and gracefully, not really sure what she was doing. She wasn’t a real wolf anyway...
That didn’t matter to Arianna. She wasn’t a real human either. Real humans couldn’t do what she did. No one she knew could sprout a pair of wings or grow fur and claws. And she certainly never met anyone else who could communicate with animals. She thought the talking to animals thing was odd, but at least easy to hide, but then the shapeshifting started...Her first change had happened in front of all of her friends, her teachers, and her now ex-boyfriend. They had all panicked. Why wouldn’t they? She had turned into a tiger right in front of their eyes! It wasn’t like she wanted it to happen. She couldn’t control it.
The wolf-girl slowed down, coming upon a lake in the woods. She crept over to it and lowered her head, lapping up the cool water. She didn’t realize how thirsty she was until now, and she greedily sucked it up. Her brown eyes closed in happiness and she pulled back once she was satisfied. She reopened her eyes and blinked a few times, catching her semi-distorted reflection in the rippling water. Her wolf form was by far one of her most favorite animals to shift into. Her fur was jet black and her eyes were a dark brown, nearly as black as her fur. She was muscled from all the running she’d been doing...
How long had it been since she’d last been human? Arianna often asked herself this question, but could never remember. She liked being an animal. She felt safe, and she was able to protect herself from most dangers. She didn’t feel defenseless like she did when she was human. But just because she could shift back and forth between a variety of animals didn’t mean she was any less human...right? She was born a normal human being with two legs, two arms, and no fur. Lately, she didn’t really feel human.
Scowling, the wolf slapped her paw in the water, distorting her reflection even more. She sat back on her hind legs and watched as the water stopped rippling. As it calmed, she watched the wolf before her shift, her muzzle shrinking back as black fur disappeared into tan skin. It was only seconds until the black wolf was replaced by a teenage girl with long black hair and dark eyes. Arianna scooted backwards until her back was against a tree and her knees were curled up to her chest. She was still wearing the dress she wore when she shifted and ran off into the woods a while ago. Realizing that she was wearing a dress and probably in danger of flashing some deer or squirrel her underwear, she decided to lower her knees, curling them underneath her as she shifted into a more comfortable position against the tree. She was so tired...a small nap couldn’t hurt. She moved her head slightly and closed her eyes, lightly drifting off.
